Özet
The lichen are small, low order, yet complex plants that live and thrive under diverse environments of tundra, desert, tropical, and forested regions. They occur on rocks of all types, upon decaying organic materials, and occupy a respectable but neglected niche in botanical assemblages. Current results by the writers suggest they may prove to be useful as a trace-element medium for geochemical prospecting for subsurface ore deposits. © 1962 Society of Economic Geologists, Inc.
