Özet
Background: Mouthwashes can discolor restorative materials. This study evaluated the effects of mouthwashes on color change (ΔE) and translucency (TP) of two monolithic zirconia. Materials and Methods: Eighty rectangular specimens (14 × 12 × 2 mm) were fabricated from high-translucency monolithic zirconia (3Y-TZP; MZ, n=40) and graded multilayer monolithic zirconia (3–5 Y-PSZ; MLZ, n=40). Subgroups (n=10) were immersed for 180 h at 37°C in distilled water (DW), 0.2% chlorhexidine (CHX), whitening mouthwash (WM), or alcohol-free herbal mouthwash (HM). Baseline and post-immersion CIE Lab* values were recorded with a calibrated dental spectrophotometer; TP was calculated on black/white backgrounds. Color difference was computed using CIEDE2000 (ΔE00). Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA with Tukey post-hoc for ΔE and repeated-measures ANOVA for TP (α = 0.05). Results: Color changes were observed in all groups. ΔE values were significantly higher in MLZ compared with MZ (p<0.001). Mouthwash type significantly affected ΔE (p=0.004). Post hoc analysis showed lower ΔE in specimens immersed in chlorhexidine (0.97±0.63) compared with HM (1.36±0.91) and DW (1.11±0.68). Ceramic type affected TP values, but immersion time did not significantly influence translucency. Mouthwash type had no significant effect on TP change (p=0.144). Conclusion: For cases prioritizing shade stability, MZ is recommended; by contrast, HM and WM should be restricted to limited indications, and CHX is acceptable for antisepsis only with systematic polishing and scheduled monitoring.
