Özet
This study aimed to evaluate the test–retest reliability and validity of the 6-Minute Pegboard and Ring Test (6PBRT) in individuals with obesity. Fifty-five participants with obesity performed the 6PBRT twice, one hour apart, following standard preparation. Respiratory muscle strength, handgrip strength, and upper limb muscle strength were assessed as criterion measures to establish convergent validity. The test–retest reliability was good, with an intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC = 0.858, 95% CI: 0.553–0.939). Weak to moderate positive correlations (r = 0.299–0.383, p <.05) were observed between 6PBRT performance and respiratory, handgrip, and upper limb muscle strength, whereas a moderate negative correlation was found with age (r = –0.479, p <.05). These findings suggest that the 6PBRT is a valid and reliable tool for assessing upper extremity functional capacity in adults with obesity, and is well tolerated without adverse events, supporting its safety in clinical use.
