Özet
Temporomandibular joint sounds are one of the most decisive signs of pathological changes in the temporomandibular joint. Identification and evaluation of joint sounds guides physicians to proper diagnosis and treatment. Subjective and objective approaches are initiated as evaluation methods. Subjective methods are frequently preferred due to their ease of application in the clinic. However, these methods have disadvantages such as not being reproducible and not allowing interobserver comparisons. Objective methods often require equipment and technical precision. On the other hand, these methods allow the recording and analysis of joint sounds, providing an objective assessment of treatment efficacy. In this review, the clinical importance of temporomandibular joint sounds, the parameters of the sound and the methods used in the evaluation of joint sounds are discussed.
