Özet Introduction: Fungal prosthetic joint infections constitute a small part of all prosthetic infection cases, and Candida species are the causative agent in most cases. Most fungal prosthetic joint infections occur after revision arthroplasty. Case: A 77-year-old male patient underwent a total knee prosthesis operation for the right knee due to Gon arthrosis. About five months later, he was hospitalized and treated due to a bacterial prosthetic joint infection. Eight days after discharge, he reapplied with complaints of swelling, pain, temperature increase, and redness in the right knee. He was hospitalized again due to a prosthetic joint infection. Antifungal treatment was started for the patient due to the growth of Candida albicans in the knee joint. A total of 2.5 months of antifungal treatment was given. The recovered patient continues to be followed up in the outpatient clinic. Discussion: In this case report, we wanted to emphasize that in the presence of risk factors in prosthetic joint infection, we should not forget that the factor may also be fungus. During the operation, a culture should be taken, and antifungal treatment should be given for effective and long-term fungal-related prosthetic joint infections.
