The Effect of Patient Education on Anxiety and Pain Level in Interventional Radiology

Özet Objectives: The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the training given to the patient by the radiology nurse before the liver biopsy on the level of anxiety and pain. Methods: In the quasi-experimental study, 67 patients were educated after the prebiopsy anxiety level was evaluated. The level of anxiety after the training and the level of pain felt during the procedure were re-evaluated. Results: There was a significant difference between the state and trait anxiety mean scores of the patients before and after the education (p < .01). It was observed that the pain felt during the procedure was mild. Conclusion: The training given by the radiology nurse before the liver biopsy is effective in reducing anxiety and pain levels.
