Özet
Aprotinin, which is best known to decrease the need for blood products during and after surgery, have been a contraversial drug while it was still in the market. Per-operative myocardial infarction and impaired renal function have been the most notorious possible side effects. However, small to moderate dose regimens have been shown to decrease length of intubation period and period of intensive care unit stay by preventing neutrophil accumulation in the lungs without any undesirable effects. In our study, we aimed to investigate effects of aprotinin on postoperative renal function and length of intubation period in patients undergoing surgery for ischemic coronary artery disease.
