Phenolics from endophytic fungi as natural α-glucosidase inhibitors: A comprehensive review

Özet The current review was undertaken to collate data on α-glucosidase inhibitors isolated from endophytic fungi reported for the decade 2010–2021. Endophytic fungi produce complex and unique structural classes of secondary metabolites which prompt them as novel sources of leads for the pharmaceutical and agricultural industries. This review summarizes the natural phenolics as α-glucosidase inhibitors from a plethora of endophytic fungi and broadly discusses the structure-activity relationship and their antidiabetic potential. Moreover, the glucosidase inhibitory activities of these compounds are presented and compared with standard glucosidase inhibitors.
