Özet
The Covid19 pandemic, which has shaken the whole world since the beginning of 2020, has affected all the lives of individuals, and undoubtedly, the education sector has been highly affected by this situation and distance education applications have started to spread rapidly all over the world and in our country. Therefore, the aim of this study was to examine the views of students on the synchronous distance education applied in a foreign language (English) preparation program of a university during the pandemic process. The present study was designed according to the case study, one of the qualitative research methods. A questionnaire form, which was developed by the researchers and consisted of open-ended questions, was applied via Google Forms to the 78 preparatory– class students who attended the simultaneous distance education and voluntarily participated in the study. The collected data was analyzed thanks to content analysis. According to the findings of the study, it was concluded that the students generally preferred traditional face-to-face education to synchronous distance education; they used different metaphors for synchronous distance education;there were problems in the interaction dimension of synchronous distance education and the dimension of extra activities and homework was important in synchronous distance education.
